Vocal Coach, Songwriter
Twyla Sommersell was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was raised in Hempstead, Long Island, New York, where she resided for most of her formative years. Twyla has always been musical, singing and performing from the age of 4. Growing up, she did her best to participate in anything musical that she could find. Having a passion for teaching and sharing music with others, Twyla completed her secondary education at Adelphi University, specializing in Music Education with Vocal Performance as her concentration.
After college, Twyla quickly realized that choir directing and 1 on 1 teaching better suited her teaching skills. Thus, she began teaching private voice lessons to young people and adults, while directing several choirs. Twyla continues to teach voice while performing whenever she has the opportunity.
Twyla supports several churches with vocal training and choir directing. She also serves as assistant director of the Hempstead Assembly of God Youth Choir, which is her home church. Twyla continues to create music, perform and share her love of music and her talents with young people and prospective music artists. Twyla currently resides in Brooklyn.
